I have another mouth to feed. Can you believe this gorgeous girl was a stray? I went and got her from the "bad" shelter in my county this morning - they are NOT a no-kill shelter. Because I have adopted from there before (my Gracie is from there as well), I am basically pre-approved and didn't even have to pay the fees. With that type of deal, how can I NOT save another life?
This makes my feline headcount stable at THREE again. For those of you that remember Sunny - the little kitten my mom and I first saved and then had to re save from the good shelter in the county, she never left mom's house after Russia as I suspected. She and Chloe, my mom's calico (yes we have an affinity for the calico's), are bestest buddies and could NOT be separated.
Now, I need your help. I need a good name for her. I currently have Gracie and Roo. My last calico was Gertie, so I do have a "G" thing going. I like Gabby, but my mom poo-pooed it. My first calico was Prissy -- and I just can't think of something close enough to that. So -- suggestions being taken!!

Not sure about the name, but she sure is pretty.
I like Patches because she kind of looks like a patchwork quilt.
Very cute cat.
How about Koshka (spelling?) the Russian word for cat.
What a beautiful kitty!
I like Sarah's suggestion!
She is super sweet, how about Geraldine?
I like Sarah's suggestion too!
Cute kitty! How about Gypsy? We had a dog named Gypsy growing up and your kitty is sort of like a gypsy traveling to new home :)
Gilly/Ginger hehe..she's very pretty, I think a Russian name would be cool. Congrats!
She looks like a "Ginger"
Super cute kitty.
Oh my dear Amy,
You are such a momma.....no matter if they are 2 legged or 4.....so much love to give.
Name? Missy, kind of close to Prissy? Or Jessabelle....LOL.
Hugs!!
I like Koshka too!
Patches or Koshka. I like Gabby, too though. I guess I'm not being very helpful.
If you want a Russian name for a cat, I would suggest Masha or Marusya. Those are the most common names for female cats in Russia. I like the name Phoebe though.
Growing up I had a calico named Alice, so that is what comes to mind when I see her. However, I think a nice Russian name would be very appropo.... if you want a G name, how about Galina? It's a very traditional Russian female name. Or if you want a P, there's always Paulina (also Russian) or Pasha (though it's a boys name in Russia, it's still cute! :)
Other G names I can think of are Gladys (which is awfully cute), Gloria, or Gina. P is easier, lost of P's like Pearl, Petunia, Petra, Penelope, Phyllis, Patty, Phoebe, Peony, Pepper, or Poppy.
Okay, there's my exhausted list of P's and G's. If you're open to other letters though, I personally really like Stella! :) Or if I were going with a Russian name, my personal favorites are Ludmilla and Ksusha (nickname Ksenia.)
Its obvious that you are getting a lot of great advice...especially from Ondrea...LOL....but I wanted to pop back in and say that we used to have a calico that we rescued from the pound and her name was Dusty...not too great a name.
You could also just call her Kitty....that is what our cat usually gets referred to. Actually her name is Roxy Mittens (the kids could not agree between Roxy or Mittens so they combined them). Personally, I think that sounds like a stripper's name..hahaha!
I can't wait to hear what you have decided on.
Kristine
I like Ginger!
Joy
Yes, waiting to hear what you finally decide on . . . but I think Koshka would be very apropos right now (although it is horrible sounding . . . so maybe just a Russian name . . .) I've always wanted to name one of my pets "Sir Elton John" but no one in my family would go along with it . . . and your kitty's a female . . .
My first thought was "Koshka", as well. Gala is short for the Russian name Galina...just to throw another Russian G name out there! Can you see a theme from some of us who hold Russia dear to us??
Looking forward for the name unveiling!
~Laura :)
How about Keeska...our translator told us that's the Russian way to say kitty. Or you can have T name her...Bradyn has changed our cat's name from NeeNee to Mimi and it has stuck!!
