Another household malfunction today! This time it wasn't the computer, nor the TV (which is still acting up), nor the light (but not the fan) of my bedroom ceiling fan but a necessary tool in this house.... the VACUUM.
Yes, with 4 kitties, the vacuum is my friend. And today, it started acting up. Acting up as in eating part of the carpet. No damage to the visible eye thank goodness, but instead of sucking things up, it started leaving little carpet poops all over. Very strange. I guess it is probably close to 8 years old - which really doesn't sound all that old to me in vacuum cleaner life. But, I have put it through the wringer with the multi-feline household. Not to mention when my hair was longer...
So anyway, here is where you come in. What vacuum do you use/recommend? Do you have pets? I am considering a Dyson... anyone have one? Thoughts?

The Dyson was reccommended to us and we have 5 pets! This will sound so silly but I always buya vacuum with the clear cup so I can feel like I really accomplished something each time I vacuum and empty the cup! It keeps me motivated! Let us know what you decide and how you like it!
We have three pets, one dog and two cats. It seems like we go through a vacuum a year. We had an expensive one a few years ago and it broke so now we just buy the cheaper brands and they work the same.
DYSON!!!! We have the Animal/Ball. Maybe the DC15? I'm not sure they make that model anymore, but I love it!
I am jumping on the bandwagon....Dyson is the bomb!!! I have basically gone through a vacuum a year for the last 13 years I have been out on my own and so therefore have own every brand known to man. None can handle me!!!! We broke down and bought a Dyson 2 years ago and it runs like a champ!!! FYI - they all sell for about the same price, but at Linen's n Things you CAN use your 20% off coupon on it (which is awesome on a $500 purchase!!) Mine is the animal model, but not the ball --- I borrowed a friend's who has the ball and personally, I couldn't manuever the thing!!!
Another vote for the Dyson if you haven't made a decision yet. We have two long-haired cats, and it seems like we're always vacuuming--and the Dyson is sooo much better than anything else we've used. No kidding it has sucked stuff out of our carpets that we didn't know was there (I know, gross!) One of our friends, who is a professional housecleaner, asked us where we got it because she loves it.
I have a Dyson, the purple one and I love it! The attachments are super easy to use and it really does a great job on the cat fluff.
I have the Bissell Healthy Home. After reading reviews of mine and the Dyson they where very close. We had a dog and it was AMAZING in picking up the hair. It is also MUCH cheaper than the Dyson. Especially if you get it at Khols with a 30% off coupon.
